What are the secrets of the universe?

The universe is a big, mysterious place. And because human beings are fascinated with the mysterious and unknown, we all want to know the secrets of the universe. Just what are the mysteries surrounding such an expansive space?

Before getting to the bottom of this age-old mystery, let’s be honest: trying to answer the “what are the secrets of the universe” question will most likely leave you frustrated, with many unrelated search engine results popping up from your browser. Annoying, no? However, there are a few findings that may convince you to keep looking for answers.

A large-scale particle physics experiment in an old gold mine in Lead, South Dakota, may help give answers to one of the secrets of the universe—its formation. Because scientists believe that the universe should have been created with equal parts matter and antimatter, they want to figure out why it didn’t happen. The project, which involves one thousand scientists from more than thirty nations, aims to determine if neutrinos, a mysterious particle, may have had a hand in our existence.

Finding number two: the discovery of the Higgs boson by CERN’s (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) Large Hadron Collider (or the LHC, one of the most powerful machines developed) in 2013 was a victory in modern science. For those unfamiliar, it was the missing piece of the Standard Model of particle physics that has been sought for a long time. Prior to its discovery, the question of how several force-carrying particles (including those carrying the weak force) gained mass couldn’t be answered. Now that the Higgs has been unearthed, such mystery can now be solved. It brings scientists (and by extension, the rest of humankind) closer to uncovering more unknown secrets of the universe.

Here’s another thing to consider: according to an article on Medium, wide readers may have unlocked one of the secrets of the universe. If you’re familiar with (or have read) Rhonda Byrne’s The Secret and The Power or Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich, you may notice how these books help generate relationships between our thoughts, aspirations, and what the universe has in store for us. This is what we call the law of attraction. Think of it this way: if you’re persistent in holding onto something, regardless if it’s positive or negative, the universe will hand it to you.

Perhaps the law of attraction is the secret we knew about all along. But until the day a headline that says “Secrets of the Universe: Revealed” comes out in newspapers, we may have to keep looking.
